Volunteers can choose to work from a variety of projects during the Martin Luther King Jr. National Day of Service Saturday, Feb. 7, from 9 a.m.-noon in the lower level of the University of Wyoming Union. The event is open to UW students, faculty and staff, and community members.

The Martin Luther King Jr. National Day of Service is recognized as one of the largest student-run service projects of the spring semester. The UW Service, Leadership and Community Engagement office (SLCE) hosts this service day every year on campus as part of the collective Martin Luther King Jr. Days of Dialogue week.

The upcoming service day is an opportunity for students to complete various service projects that will benefit nonprofit organizations in the Laramie community. Projects include making Valentine’s Day cards for Laramie’s senior citizens at the Eppson Center; making dog toys for the Laramie Animal Shelter; creating inspirational coffee sleeves for local coffee shops; and making blankets for Interfaith-Good Samaritan and Ivinson Memorial Hospital.

In addition to the service day, the Wyoming Conservation Corps is offering a glass recycling drop-off location, also Saturday, Feb. 7, from 9 a.m.-noon in the Wyoming Union east parking lot.
