Singer-songwriter Iron and Wine will perform Friday, May 1, at the University of Wyoming.

Singer-songwriter Sam Beam, better known by his recording name Iron & Wine, will perform a solo acoustic concert Friday, May 1, at 8 p.m. in the University of Wyoming College of Arts and Sciences auditorium.

Student tickets go on sale Monday, March 9, for $20 with a valid WyoOne ID. Public tickets will be available starting Monday, March 16, for $30. Tickets are available at the Wyoming Union information desk, the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts box office or online at www.uwyo.edu/finearts.

Beam has created music as Iron & Wine for more than a decade. His recording name comes from a dietary supplement named "Beef Iron & Wine" that he found while working on a film.

Iron & Wine’s “Archive Series Volume No. 1” is the first in a series of releases pulled from tapes found in the back corners of closets and dusty shoeboxes -- long neglected, but never forgotten. With the Archive Series, he will gather otherwise unreleased home recordings, covers and live sets from his entire career and will release them on his own label, Black Cricket Recording Co.

Iron & Wine also will headline at prestigious Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colo., this summer.

Opening for Iron & Wine will be Gregory Alan Isakov, a folk musician whose previous UW performance sold out.
