UW Offers Series for Caregivers of People with Dementia

March 12, 2015

An education series to assist caregivers for people with dementia will be offered 10:15-11:30 a.m. each Wednesday April 1-May 20 at the Eppson Center for Seniors, 1560 N. Third St. in Laramie.

Each week, the Wyoming Center on Aging in the University of Wyoming College of Health Sciences will show a video from a series designed to inform family members, friends or anyone caring for individuals with dementia.

“The series offers practical advice to create a better life for the person you care for with memory loss or dementia, while regaining control of your own life,” says Catherine Carrico, clinical assistant professor in the UW College of Health Sciences. “You’ll learn the basics about dementia, your role as a caregiver and effective ways to respond to changes in the behavior of the person you care for.”

All sessions are free, supported by a grant from the Alzheimer’s Association. For more information, email wycoa@uwyo.edu or call (307) 766-2829.
