Punk Bands to Perform at UW May 6

May 5, 2015

Post-hardcore punk bands Pianos Become The Teeth, Loma Prieta and Gates will perform Wednesday, May 6, at 8 p.m. in the University of Wyoming College of Education auditorium. The show is free and open to both students and the public.

Baltimore-based Pianos Become The Teeth is on tour promoting its new album “Keep You” from Epitaph Records. Released in 2014, the album diverges from the band’s two previous releases with its softer nature and more mature vocal styling. The band’s sound has been described as “post-hardcore” and, over the years, the group has built a large and loyal following.

Screamo band Loma Prieta and post-hardcore experimental band Gates have toured with Pianos Become The Teeth, contributing with their distinct music. Loma Prieta formed in 2005 as part of the Bay Area hardcore community. The group has performed internationally and has released multiple albums, the most recent “I.V.”

The New Jersey-based Gates, composed of former members of the indie rock band, Lydia, has built a following of its own. Gates recently released its debut album, “Bloom and Breathe,” available on Pure Noise Records.
