Heather Ostler knows the importance of receiving a quality education and wants to set an example for her children.
The Cody student is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice with a pre-law concentration through the University of Wyoming Outreach School. She recently received the 2015 Edelweiss Scholarship that will help with her goal of moving to Laramie and completing dual degree programs in law and a master’s of business administration at UW.
“This scholarship will help me give my children a chance. I know that the only way to do this is to receive a good education,” Ostler says. “This quality of life is all within my reach through an education.”
The Edelweiss Scholarship is available to part- or full-time students who are seeking a UW degree through the Outreach School -- including Outreach Credit Programs and UW-Casper -- and who demonstrate the promise of academic excellence. Priority is given to female, non-traditional, first-generation students who also are Wyoming residents and single mothers. The scholarship award period is for up to six years or until the completion of the degree.
Launched in 2008, the Edelweiss Fund is designed to make a difference for select UW Outreach School students by awarding scholarships for the duration of the recipients’ degree program.
