Three students are the recipients of the 2015-16 Wyoming Women’s-Edelweiss Opportunity Scholarships from the University of Wyoming Outreach School.
They are Cathryn Anne Christie, a social science junior, and Tara Paris, an elementary education senior, both from Casper; and Calla Hopeman, from Lander, a graduate student in the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program.
Each will receive a $1,000 scholarship to assist with living and child care expenses.
The Wyoming Women’s-Edelweiss Opportunity Scholarship is available to part- or full-time students who are seeking UW degrees and taking classes through the Outreach School, including Outreach Credit Programs and UW-Casper. Recipients must be single parents who are juniors, seniors or graduate students, and demonstrate the promise of academic excellence.
The scholarship was funded through contributions from the Wyoming Women’s Foundation, the Edelweiss Fund and the state of Wyoming. The Wyoming Women’s Foundation is a charitable organization that supports economic self-sufficiency and access to opportunities for women and girls in Wyoming by raising funds, making grants and providing leadership. The Edelweiss Fund was created to significantly assist select UW Outreach students as they complete their degrees.
