Public Meeting Scheduled on Ivinson Avenue Redesign

A public open house/meeting to gather public input regarding options for the redesign of Ivinson Avenue and adjacent streets is scheduled Monday, Oct. 5, from 4-6 p.m. in the University of Wyoming Union Family Room.

The project will involve reconstructing Ivinson Avenue between Ninth and 15th streets, 10th through 15th streets between Ivinson Avenue and Grand Avenue, and 15th Street from Ivinson Avenue to Willett Drive.

The meeting is hosted by the city of Laramie and UW, along with a consulting team led by Trihydro Corp. The open house format means that citizens may drop in at any time during the two hours. Illustrations will be on display around the room, and staff members will be present to answers questions and receive comments.

The Ivinson Avenue area project will be a complete reconstruction of this six-block section of Ivinson and nearby blocks of 10th through 15th streets. Workers will replace streets, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, lighting, landscaping and most utilities in the affected area.

Monday’s open house is to review options for how to redesign the streets and infrastructure, including bicycling and pedestrian enhancements. Final design should be completed in early 2016. Actual construction will begin in spring 2016 and is expected to be complete in fall 2017.

This project will bring a completely new, fresh look to the area, while retaining the best-loved qualities of the current street network, according to a city of Laramie announcement. Ivinson Avenue and adjacent streets are “signature” corridors for both Laramie and UW, and public advice and participation are welcome.
