University of Wyoming Calendar for Sept. 7

These are among the activities scheduled Sept. 7-13 at the University of Wyoming:

Monday, Sept. 7 -- Labor Day. No classes in session. Most UW offices closed.

Wednesday, Sept. 9, 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. -- “Set on Stone,” outdoor vertical dance and Lights Along the Shore musical performance, north side of the Physical Sciences Building. Free.

Thursday, Sept. 10, 4 p.m. -- Gary Bruce, history professor at the University of Waterloo, will discuss “The Stasi, Reunification and Reconciliation” in the Berry Biodiversity Conservation Center auditorium. Free.

Thursday, Sept. 10, 5 p.m. -- “Inspired by Botanicals” exhibition reception, Gallery 234, Wyoming Union lower level. Free.

Thursday, Sept. 10, 6:30 p.m. -- The Department of Art and Art History presents an artist talk with Phoebe Toland in the Visual Arts Building, Room 111. Free.

Thursday, Sept. 10, 7 p.m. -- Illusionist Jim Munroe will perform in the College of Arts and Sciences auditorium. Free.

Thursday, Sept. 10, 7:30 p.m. -- Opening gallery reception for Richard Notkin and Phoebe Toland in the Visual Arts Gallery. Free.

Friday, Sept. 11, noon -- School of Energy Resources Speaker Series presents Craig Douglas, UW professor of mathematics. He will discuss “A Replacement for Richards Equations that Always Converges and Is Significantly Faster” in the Energy Innovation Center’s Encana Auditorium. Lunch provided. Free.

Friday, Sept. 11, 6 p.m. -- Opening reception for fall exhibitions at the UW Art Museum. Free.

Friday, Sept. 11, 6 p.m. -- The UW Service, Leadership and Community Engagement office will partner with the Laramie Fire Department for a 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance. The event will include a stair climb in War Memorial Stadium at 6:30 p.m. Registration will open at 6 p.m.

Friday, Sept. 11, 6:30 p.m., 9 p.m., 11:30 p.m. -- Friday Night Fever presents “Ted 2” in the Wyoming Union Family Room. Free to UW students with ID.

Friday, Sept. 11, 7 p.m. -- Planetarium show, “Gaia.” A tour of the STAR Observatory follows at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for nonstudents, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in Room 204 of the Physical Sciences Building.

Friday, Sept. 11, 9 p.m. -- Friday Night Fever presents hypnotist chrisjones in the Wyoming Union Ballroom. Free.

Friday, Sept. 11, noon -- Cowgirl volleyball vs. Marquette, UniWyo Sports Complex. Ticket prices vary.

Friday, Sept. 11, 4:30 p.m. -- Cowgirl soccer vs. Kansas, Louis S. Madrid Sports Complex. Ticket prices vary.

Friday, Sept. 11, 7 p.m. -- Cowgirl volleyball vs. Kansas, UniWyo Sports Complex. Ticket prices vary.

Saturday, Sept. 12, 2 p.m. -- Cowboy football vs. Eastern Michigan, War Memorial Stadium. Ticket prices vary.
