Anne Guzzo, associate professor in the University of Wyoming Department of Music, is serving as composer-in-residence with the Colorado Chamber Orchestra (CCO).

Directed by renowned Colorado conductor Thomas Blomster, the group returns for its second season as orchestra-in-residence at the Arvada Center for the Arts. The CCO’s musical season is a three-concert series including some classical favorites as well as new compositions and several acclaimed solo performances.

Guzzo, whose music has been performed internationally, is the founder of New Frontiers Festival of contemporary music at UW. She performs regularly as a clarinetist and teaches composition and theory.

A native of Wyoming, Guzzo earned her Ph.D. in theory and composition from the University of California, Davis. She earned her master’s degree in 20th century music from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and she received a bachelor of music in clarinet performance from the University of New Mexico.

She arrived at UW in 2001 as an adjunct faculty member and became a tenure-track faculty member in 2006. Guzzo’s compositions have been heard at numerous festivals, and her music was recently performed in London by the AdZel Duo and in Los Angeles by the Synchromy Collective.
