November 16, 2015

Voices of Courage, a University of Wyoming recognized student organization, will offer several events Nov. 17-19 for Sexual Assault Awareness Week.

Beginning Tuesday, Nov. 17, through Thursday, Nov. 19, Voices of Courage members will have a table in the Wyoming Union breezeway to provide information about Sexual Assault Awareness Week and will sell raffle tickets. All proceeds will support an emergency fund for survivors of sexual violence.

All events are free and open to the public.

The schedule of events:

Tuesday, Nov. 17 -- Information table and raffle, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Wyoming Union. The public is invited to eat at Born in a Barn, located at 100 E. Ivinson Ave., with a portion of the proceeds going to Voices of Courage.

Wednesday, Nov. 18 -- Information table and raffle, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Wyoming Union. Free hot chocolate will be available, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Simpson Plaza. “The Hunting Ground,” a documentary, will be shown at 6 p.m. in Room 133 of the Classroom Building.

Thursday, Nov. 19 -- Information table and raffle, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Wyoming Union. At 6 p.m. is “Survivor Speak Out,” in Room 133 of the Classroom Building, followed at 7:30 p.m. by a march from in front of the Classroom Building to Coal Creek Coffee, located at 108 E. Grand Ave. A performance by Seth McGee and raffle follows at Coal Creek at 8 p.m.

“We hope that those who teach courses that touch on gender oppression and sexual violence will encourage their students to attend our screening of ‘The Hunting Ground’ Wednesday night,” says Megan Selheim, STOP Violence Program coordinator in the Dean of Students Office.
