Lights Along the Shore, a University of Wyoming instrumental quartet, and Australian master storyteller Paul Taylor will give a concert and a school workshop Monday, Nov. 23, at Desert School in Wamsutter. The free concert will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the school gym.
Lights Along the Shore will perform original compositions and arrangements as well as traditional folk music from various cultures. The group recently recorded a new CD, “Misty Morn in May.” Taylor will present Aboriginal creation stories.
Quartet members, all from the UW Department of Music, are Steve Barnhart, professor, percussion; Rod Garnett, professor emeritus, flute; Blake McGee, assistant professor, clarinet; and Lisa Rickard, staff accompanist, piano. Working with Arts Cheyenne, Lights Along the Shore received funding from the Wyoming Community Foundation to support the programs in Wamsutter, as well as programs in Hyattville and Greybull that will take place in 2016.
