You be the Judge Workshop Nov. 18

November 11, 2015

The public can learn about the judicial system during a free workshop titled, “You be the Judge,” Wednesday, Nov. 18, and Thursday, Nov. 19, at 6 p.m. at the Albany County Courthouse, located at 525 Grand Ave. in Laramie.

The workshop will take place on the fourth floor of the courthouse in the District Court of the 2nd Judicial District.

Mock cases involving issues of divorce, custody, landlord and tenants, search and seizure, and sentence hearings will be presented. Wyoming Supreme Court justices, local District and Circuit Court judges, and local attorneys will be at the workshop. This is the first time Laramie has hosted the “You be the Judge” program, says Tori Kricken, staff attorney for Wyoming’s 2nd Judicial District.

The workshop is sponsored by the University of Wyoming College of Law, UW’s Potter Law Club, the Wyoming Bar Association and the 2nd Judicial District of Wyoming.

Those interested can earn four continuing legal education (CLE) credits (two hours per each night).

District Judges Jeffrey Donnell and Wade Waldrip, representing Albany County and Carbon County, and Circuit Judge Robert Castor are scheduled to participate Nov. 18. Wyoming Supreme Court Chief Justice James Burke is scheduled the following evening, along with Supreme Court justices Michael Davis, Kate Fox and Keith Kautz.

Participating attorneys include Kurt Britzius, deputy Albany County and prosecuting attorney; and Tom Fleener, Vaughn Neubauer and other lawyers from local firms.

For more information, contact Kricken at (307) 721-5554 or tkricken@courts.state.wy.us.
