UW 4

Brittany Johnson and Tansey Sussex

University of Wyoming Extension 4-H educators received national recognition during the recent National Association of Extension 4-H Educators conference in Portland, Ore.

Laramie County’s Tansey Sussex received the Distinguished Service Award (DSA), and Brittany Johnson, 4-H/military educator, was presented the Achievement in Service Award (ASA.)

The DSA recognizes 4-H educators with a minimum of seven years of service to extension 4-H programs.  Sussex is past president of the Wyoming of Association of Extension 4-H Agents (WAE4-HA) and currently holds leadership positions in state 4-H teams. She has participated in a variety of professional development conferences and continuously seeks ways to apply what she has learned.

Sussex previously earned the National ASA and a variety of state and regional association awards, and takes part in a number of community activities, including service with Black Dog Animal Rescue.

The ASA recognizes 4-H educators with at least three but no more than seven years’ experience. Johnson has been with UW Extension for nearly five years and has twice served as co-chair of the national 4-H Communication and Expressive Arts Task Force. She provides innovative programming for military youth and families and is very active at the state 4-H level in a variety of capacities.

Johnson led the Wyoming 4-H Theatre Camp, an intercollegiate partnership with the UW Department of Theatre and Dance. She currently is vice chair of the WAE4-HA.
