UW Trustees Revise Smoking Regs to Include E

With the support of students and employees, the University of Wyoming Board of Trustees has approved a change in UW regulations to treat electronic cigarettes the same as other tobacco products.

The board voted unanimously Friday in favor of the change, which was backed by the Faculty Senate, Staff Senate and Associated Students of UW. The change is consistent with the city of Laramie’s smoking ordinance.

As with other smoking devices, use of e-cigarettes now is prohibited in all university buildings and during outdoor events. Their use is permitted only in outdoor areas that are a reasonable distance from entryways, passageways, windows and ventilation systems.
