Three bluegrass bands will perform at the University of Wyoming Wednesday, Feb. 24, at 8 p.m. in the lower level of the Wyoming Union.

The free concert will feature The Lil’ Smokies, The Drunken Hearts and Chain Station. Sponsored by the UW Student Activities Council, the concert is open to the public.

The quintet Lil’ Smokies, from Missoula, Mont., has been writing, touring and playing to a growing fan base the past six years. The group will jam to traditional bluegrass, with a blend of other genres.

“The Lil’ Smokies weave seamlessly through genres, leaving behind melodies you’ll be singing to yourself for days, and a jaw you’ll have to pick up off the floor,” according to the band’s website.

For more information about The Lil’ Smokies, visit www.thelilsmokies.com or like the band on Facebook.

The second band scheduled to play is Colorado-based The Drunken Hearts, composed of six musicians. The band’s sound is made up of vocals, electric and acoustic guitars, fiddle, bass, lap steel and drums.

The band is described on its Facebook page as having a “tempestuous, yet smoky flavor of music.”

The last bluegrass band scheduled to play is Chain Station. The band is described on its website as “a four-piece, high-energy, get ‘em out on the dance floor string band from the front range of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains.”

Chain Station is known for its catchy lyrics and original songs.
