These are among the construction activities scheduled Feb. 28-March 5 at the University of Wyoming:

Recycling Competition -- The University of Wyoming is once again competing in RecycleMania, a collegiate recycling competition to promote waste reduction activities on campus. Click here to read more.

Snow Removal -- Physical Plant crews will remove snow as needed throughout the season. Watch for snow-removal equipment; be careful and safe during snow events. Call the service desk at 766-6225 to report icy spots and problem areas.

The UW Facilities Planning Office reports the following activities for the week:

Michael B. Enzi STEM Facility (General contractor AP Wyoming, Cheyenne; Lewis Street between 10th and 11th streets; scheduled completion October 2015) -- Please note that this project is being managed and administered by the State Construction Office. The intersections of 10th and 11th and Lewis are open for pedestrian and vehicle traffic. Vehicle traffic on Lewis between 10th and 11th will be limited to bus and service vehicles. Parking will not be allowed on Lewis. “No parking” signs and bollards are in place. No-parking enforcement continues. The sidewalks around Enzi and the south side of Lewis are open. There is access to the Earth Sciences/EIC loading dock.

Minor construction activity may continue randomly. Watch for these activities. Departments occupying Enzi have moved in, and classes started Jan. 25.

Hoyt Hall Renovation (General contractor Elk Ridge Builders & Design LLC, Laramie; anticipated substantial completion July 22, 2016) -- New wall layout, framing for new door openings, acoustical ceiling grid, painting, along with electrical, lighting and plumbing rough-in, are taking place. In addition, existing pneumatic zone control valves are being replaced on all fin-tube radiators with new direct digital control units. Renovation in the building is progressing from the third floor down and is about 25 percent complete. Interior stud wall framing in the basement level and floor preparation will begin in the next few weeks. Please observe all temporary barricades, construction fencing, cautionary signs or other posted instructions around the building where work is taking place.

High Bay Research Facility (General contractor Haselden Wyoming Constructors, Laramie; 19th Street; scheduled completion spring 2017) -- Storm drain No. 1 -- that will extend from the site south to a detention pond at 19th and Willett -- will begin construction the first week of March. This work will continue through May. Underground electrical work is taking place north of the building. Mechanical ductwork is being installed on both the first and second floors of the west wing. Light-gauge framing for the priority walls on the west wing of the building began the week of Feb. 22. Rigid insulation board, which will act as sheathing for the exterior portion of the thermal barrier and the air and water barrier, is being installed on the north wing of the building. Exterior stone masonry is being installed on the south portions of the west wing. Curtain wall systems are being installed on the east face of the west wing. Roof cover board and rigid insulation are being placed over the west and north wings of the building, with the finished membrane roofing following behind this work. Concrete slabs are being poured in the electrical and mechanical rooms on the first floor. Reinforcing for the reaction wall/floor is nearing completion in the structures lab. The remaining concrete for the strong wall will be poured near the end of February, allowing the form work to begin on the reaction wall.

Half Acre Gymnasium Addition and Renovation (General contractor Groathouse Construction Inc., Cody) -- The Half Acre Recreation and Wellness Center is open. Pedestrian access to the new south building entrance from the southeast Wyoming Union parking lot is open. The west historic entrance has reopened to allow access from Prexy’s Pasture to new offices, training rooms and a classroom. The refurbished gymnasium and expanded running track are open, along with the pool. Upper and lower day parking lots are open.

The UW Physical Plant has 320 projects, valued at more than $42.2 million, in progress. Following is a list of ongoing construction activities in areas of campus that may impact you:
