The University of Wyoming Department of Music’s Faculty Recital Series continues with “Chamber Music Greats” Saturday, April 23, at 7:30 p.m. and “Piano Classics” Sunday, April 24, at 3 p.m., both in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts recital hall. The concerts are free and open to the public.

“Chamber Music Greats” will feature piano quartets composed by Mozart and Brahms. UW faculty members Sherry Sinift, violinist and assistant lecturer in the Department of Music, and James Przygocki, professor of viola and violin, will perform with guest musicians Carole Whitney and Wonmin Kim.

Sinift directs the String Academy of Wyoming and is a supervising teacher for the UW String Project. The two programs serve more than 100 young string players in Laramie.

Przygocki directs the UW String Project and conducts the UW Chamber Orchestra. He also is the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra’s principal violist.

Whitney, based in Denver, is principal cellist of the Pro Musica Colorado Chamber Orchestra. She has played with the Santa Fe Opera, the New York City Ballet and the Grand Teton Music Festival.

Kim, an internationally renowned pianist, is a faculty member at the DePauw University School of Music. She is a sought-after pianist in the United States and Europe.

Guest pianist Kwan-Yu Chen will perform piano sonatas by Mozart and Schubert at the April 24 concert.
