Monday, April 18, 3:10 p.m. -- The Department of Geology and Geophysics Distinguished Lecturer Series presents Ty Ferre, University of Arizona. He will discuss “Seeing Things Differently: Rethinking the Relationship Between Data, Models, and Decision-Making” in the S.H. Knight Geology Building, Room 216. Free.

Monday, April 18, 7 p.m. -- Visual and Cultural Arts presents internationally renowned multimedia artist Phil Hansen. His talk will be in the Visual Arts Building, Room 111. Free.

Tuesday, April 19, 7 p.m. -- The Outdoor Program presents guidebook author and climber Zach Orenczak. He will discuss “Climbing in the Laramie Range” in the College of Business’s Scarlett Auditorium. Free.

Wednesday, April 20, noon -- The Engineering Initiative Seminar Series presents Kam Ng, UW assistant professor of civil and architectural engineering. His talk, “Geohazard Monitoring and Warming System using Wireless Sensor Network Technology,” will be in the Energy Innovation Center’s Encana Auditorium, Room 201. Lunch provided. Free.

Wednesday, April 20, 1:30 p.m. -- Award-winning author Erik Larson will discuss his most recent book, “Dead Wake: The Last Crossing of the Lusitania,” in the College of Education auditorium. Free.

Wednesday, April 20, 5 p.m. -- A panel discussion, “Promoting Social Justice through Visual and Literary Arts,” will take place at the University of Wyoming Art Museum. Free.

Wednesday, April 20, 5 p.m. -- The UW Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources and the Building Energy Research Group present Shelly Miller, professor of mechanical engineering, University of Colorado Boulder. Her talk, “Urban Air Quality: Sources, Impacts, Solutions,” will be in the Berry Biodiversity Conservation Center auditorium. Free.

Wednesday, April 20, 5:30 p.m. -- Ethan Appleby, the founder and CEO of Vango, will discuss “The Art of the Start-Up” at the UW Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center. His talk is part of e2e Wyoming, an educational networking program.

Thursday, April 21, 3 p.m. -- The Department of History hosts the 19th annual Cone Family Distinguished Lecture in History featuring David Wrobel, Merrick Chair of Western History at the University of Oklahoma. He will discuss “John Steinbeck’s America: A Cultural History of the Nation in Depression and War” in the Berry Center auditorium. Free.

Thursday, April 21, 8 p.m. -- Studio WYO presents musical groups Von Stomper and The Peculiar Patriots in the Wyoming Union Gardens. Free.

Friday, April 22, 10:30 a.m. -- Alpha Gamma Rho, UW’s agriculture fraternity, and the Wyoming Collegiate Cattle Association will host a free hamburger barbecue in honor of Earth Day on Prexy’s Pasture. Free.

Friday, April 22, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. -- The UW Sustainability Coalition hosts the Earth Day Fair on Simpson Plaza. The event includes live music, games and activities, glass recycling and composting. Free.

Friday, April 22, 7 p.m. -- Concerts and Convocations presents attorney Dean Strang, known from the Netflix documentary series “Making a Murderer.” His talk will be in the College of Arts and Sciences auditorium. Tickets cost $20 for the public and $10 for UW students. Saturday, April 23, 7:30 p.m. -- The UW Department of Music’s Faculty Recital Series presents “Chamber Music Greats” featuring UW faculty members Sherry Sinift, assistant lecturer, and James Przygocki, professor of viola and violin. They will be joined by guest musicians Carole Whitney, principal cellist of the Pro Musica Colorado Chamber Orchestra, and Wonmin Kim, internationally renowned pianist. They will perform in the Performing Arts Center recital hall. Free.

Sunday, April 24, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. -- The Outdoor Program hosts the spring outdoor gear swap in the Wyoming Union Yellowstone Ballroom.

Sunday, April 24, 3 p.m. -- The UW Department of Music’s Faculty Recital Series presents guest pianist Kwan-Yu Chen. He will perform sonatas by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Franz Schubert in the Performing Arts Center recital hall. Free.
