UW’s Keepers of the Fire to Host Concert, Fashion Show April 13

University of Wyoming student club Keepers of the Fire will host a free concert followed by a fashion show Wednesday, April 13, from 5-8 p.m. in the Wyoming Union Center Ballroom.

The concert will feature Native American hip-hop/rap artist Supaman. He will perform from 5-7 p.m.

Supaman, a member of the Apsaalooke Nation, resides on the Crow Reservation in Montana. As a hip-hop/rap artist, his goal is to empower youth and educate listeners through his music.

“Known for his tremendously powerful inspirational lyrics, he is in demand nationally with the purpose of spreading a positive message throughout Indian country and abroad,” according to Reverbnation.

A fashion show featuring Mild J Native Fashion designs by Mildred Carpenter will follow the concert at 7 p.m. Carpenter is a Crow Native American fashion designer from Lodge Grass, Mont.

Keepers of the Fire is a UW recognized student organization. The group’s goal is to “maintain and promote the American Indian culture, and to better the understanding between American Indians and other ethnic groups,” says Debra Littlesun, Keepers of the Fire’s adviser.
