UW Employees Invited to Share Efficiency Ideas

University of Wyoming employees are invited to share thoughts and ideas with Huron Consulting Group on how UW can become more efficient during the Tuesday, Aug. 9, meeting of the university’s Financial Crisis Advisory Committee (FCAC).

The committee will meet from noon-2 p.m. in Room 506 of Coe Library.

The FCAC has been meeting twice a week to help President Laurie Nichols prepare a plan to reduce spending by $15 million in the 2018 fiscal year to present to the Board of Trustees in November. At the same time, representatives of Huron Consulting Group are meeting with stakeholders across campus to analyze the operational performance of UW’s administrative functions, with a goal of helping the university grow revenue and operate as cost-effectively as possible.

“We want everyone at UW to have the opportunity to give us their ideas on how the university can optimize the use of its resources,” say Nichols and Professor Stephen Bieber, who chairs the FCAC. “Huron representatives aren’t able to meet with all of our employees individually, so the FCAC meeting is an opportunity for those who see operations up close to offer their suggestions for efficiencies.”

The FCAC meets Tuesdays and Fridays from noon-2 p.m. in Room 506 of Coe Library. The meetings are open to the public, and the first 15 minutes have been set aside for comments from visitors. FCAC meeting minutes and agendas are available at www.uwyo.edu/president/budget_planning/fcac/.
