Contracting with Federal Government During Fire Season Topic of Webinar

During the fire season, agencies such as the Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management contract with businesses for products and services, including hauling equipment, vehicles and food service.

Kimberly Luft, fire contracting officer for the U.S. Forest Service in Golden, Colo., will present a Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) webinar Thursday, Oct. 13, from 10-11 a.m. , on how a business can prepare in advance on short notice for these unscheduled opportunities.

The SBDC is a partnership among the University of Wyoming, the Wyoming Business Council and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The SBDC focuses on educating small business owners and potential owners on how to successfully start and operate small-businesses. The SBDC’s main office is located at UW.

If a business is capable of providing these products and services, Luft will discuss how government contracting may prove to be a valuable income stream for that company. Businesses should prepare now to set up with emergency responders.

The webinar is free, but attendees must register online at https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/2647452853139724545. For more information, contact Brett Housholder at (307) 234-3203 or brett.housholder@uwyo.edu.

Reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities will be made if requested at least two weeks in advance. For more information or to pay by check, call the SBDC at (307) 382-0947.

The Wyoming SBDC Network is a business advising group of the Wyoming SBDC, Procurement Technical Assistance Center, Market Research Center and Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR)/Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Initiative. The network’s mission is to help Wyoming entrepreneurs succeed. Advising and most market research activities are free of charge to Wyoming residents.

The SBDC is funded, in part, through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. SBA. Additional support is provided by the Wyoming Business Council and UW.
