Flu Shots Not Available to UW Faculty and Staff from Student Health Service

September 27, 2016

The Student Health Service will not provide flu shot clinics for University of Wyoming faculty and staff this fall. Flu shots are available only for eligible students, according to Joanne Steane, UW Student Health Service director.

Steane says UW faculty and staff are able to obtain flu shots at several areas on and off campus:

-- The Student Health Service has requested that the Wyoming Health Fair clinics provide additional flu shots when this program comes to the UW campus. The program will be in the Classroom Building Thursday-Friday, Oct. 13-14. The Wyoming Health Fair also is available every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 7-10 a.m. at 920 E. Sheridan St.

-- Albany County Public Health will host flu shot clinics on the following days: Friday, Sept. 30, from 3-7 p.m. at the downtown Farmers Market; and Friday, Oct. 7, from 7 am.-6 p.m. at the Lincoln Community Center.

-- By appointment at the Albany County Public Health office. For more information, visit the website at

-- All Laramie pharmacies have flu shots and also the two urgent care clinics.

Steane says the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention urges everyone 6 months of age and older to get a flu vaccination every season, with rare exceptions.
