University of Wyoming Calendar for Sept. 5

These are among the activities scheduled Sept. 5-11 at the University of Wyoming:

Monday, Sept. 5 -- Labor Day. No classes in session. Most UW offices closed.

Wednesday, Sept. 7, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. -- The annual Meet Laramie Vendor Fair and UW SLCE (Service, Leadership and Community Engagement) Service Expo will take place on Simpson Plaza and Prexy’s Pasture. Free.

Wednesday, Sept. 7, noon-12:30 p.m. -- The UW Art Museum will host “Lunchtime Conversations with Curators,” an informal gallery walk-through with museum curators and artist and biologist Brandon Ballengée. Free.

Wednesday, Sept. 7, 4 p.m. -- The UW Police Department (UWPD) will hold its annual found property auction at the UWPD parking lot, 1426 E. Flint St. Viewing for items sold will start at 3 p.m.

Wednesday, Sept. 7, 5:30 p.m. -- A public meeting about construction of UW’s new Engineering Education and Research Building will take place in the Berry Biodiversity Conservation Center auditorium. Free.

Wednesday, Sept. 7, 6:30 p.m. -- An opening reception for “The Bridge,” an international, interfaith art exhibition, will be in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts Thrust Theatre lobby. Free.

Thursday, Sept. 8, 7 p.m. -- The Department of Art and Art History presents an artist talk with Adrienne Outlaw in the Visual Arts Building, Room 111. Free.

Thursday, Sept. 8, 7:30 p.m. -- Wyoming-based filmmaker Jennifer Tennican will present “You Write Documentaries?” in the Berry Biodiversity Conservation Center auditorium. Free.

Friday, Sept. 9-Saturday, Sept. 10 -- “Re-envisioning the Laboratory: 2016 Sci-Art Symposium” will take place at the Visual Arts Building and UW Art Museum. Friday, Sept. 9, noon-2 p.m. -- An open house reception to celebrate Hoyt Hall’s renovation will begin with a dedication ceremony outside the main west door of the building. Refreshments and tours will follow. Free.

Friday, Sept. 9, 4:30 p.m. -- Cowgirl soccer vs. Utah Valley, Louis S. Madrid Sports Complex. Ticket prices vary.

Friday, Sept. 9, 6-8 p.m. -- The UW Art Museum will host a reception for the opening of its fall exhibitions. Refreshments and live music provided. Free.

Friday, Sept. 9, 6:30 p.m. -- Cowgirl volleyball vs. Samford, UniWyo Sports Complex. Ticket prices vary.

Friday, Sept. 9, 8 p.m. -- Planetarium show, “From Bang to Bust.” A STAR Observatory tour follows at 9 p.m. Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in Room 204 of the Physical Sciences Building.

Saturday, Sept. 10, 11 a.m. -- Planetarium show, “Solar System Giants.” Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in Room 204 of the Physical Sciences Building.

Saturday, Sept. 10, noon -- Cowgirl volleyball vs. CSU-Northridge, UniWyo Sports Complex. Ticket prices vary.

Saturday, Sept. 10, 7 p.m. -- Cowgirl volleyball vs. Eastern Washington, UniWyo Sports Complex. Ticket prices vary.

Saturday, Sept. 10, 8 p.m. -- Comedian and actor Adam DeVine will perform in the College of Arts and Sciences auditorium. Tickets cost $25 for the public and $15 for students with valid UW student IDs. Tickets are available at the Wyoming Union information desk and the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts box office or by visiting www.uwyo.edu/finearts.
