Northern Arapaho Endowment Scholarship Applications for 2017

The Northern Arapaho Endowment Scholarship Committee is accepting applications from full-time students for scholarship awards at the University of Wyoming. The scholarships are for the 2017 summer session and the 2017-18 academic year.

The application deadline is Wednesday, March 1.

Each applicant must be an enrolled member of the Northern Arapaho tribe and be seeking a graduate degree, a bachelor’s degree or a certification to retain a current position. Undergraduates should have junior or senior class status at the time the scholarship is used. Previous recipients are required to reapply for continued support.

Application packets must be complete at the time of submission to UW. Applicants are asked to describe their involvement in American Indian activities and to explain how they plan to use their education to benefit the Northern Arapaho people.

Applicants are expected to have been admitted to UW and, to apply for federal financial aid, should submit a 2017-18 Free Application for Federal Student Aid at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

Northern Arapaho Endowment scholarships cover tuition and mandatory fees, a book allowance, a subsistence allowance and, for those with legal dependents, a dependent’s allowance. Traditionally, five or more awards are given each year.

Funding for the scholarships is provided by an endowment at UW created in 1987 by the Northern Arapaho tribe and the state.

Applications are available from the following locations:

-- Sky People Higher Education Program, P.O. Box 920, Fort Washakie, WY 82514.

-- Native American Programs Office, Central Wyoming College, Riverton, WY 82501.

-- UW Education Opportunity Center, 705 Fairgrounds Drive, Riverton, WY 82501.

-- UW Outreach School, West Central Regional Center, 2660 Peck Ave., P.O. Box 58, Riverton, WY 82501.

For more information about the application process, contact Debra Littlesun, UW Student Financial Aid associate director, at (307) 766-2411 or dreed14@uwyo.edu.
