Safe Treat at UW Canceled This Fall Semester
The University of Wyoming Union’s popular community-wide Safe Treat, the trick-or-treating event for children, has been canceled this fall due to staffing reductions and budget restrictions on campus.
“We have made the difficult decision not to host the annual Safe Treat in the Wyoming Union this year,” says Jennifer Kirk, Wyoming Union assistant director. “It is our sincere hope we will revive the event in future years.”
In the past, many of UW’s recognized student organizations and Wyoming Union tenants also hosted a variety of games during Safe Treat events.
“We would like to encourage the community to attend other Halloween events in Laramie,” Kirk says.
Some of those include Laramie Main Street Alliance’s annual “Scaramie” safe trick or treat downtown Saturday, Oct. 29, from 10 a.m.-noon, and Premier Bone and Joint Centers’ “Safe Treat” the same day from noon-3 p.m. at 1909 Vista Drive.
Mountain View Medical Park also is sponsoring a free and safe trick or treat party for children Monday, Oct. 31, from 4-6 p.m., at 2710 E. Harney Street
