SBDC Workshop to Focus on Matchmaking with Federal Contracting Officers

Businesses involved in government contracting, or those thinking selling to the government might be a good market, may want to attend a workshop sponsored by the Wyoming Entrepreneur Small Business Development Center (SBDC).

“Matchmaking with Federal Contracting Officers” is scheduled Wednesday, Nov. 16, from 2-4:30 p.m. at the Laramie County Public Library, 2200 Pioneer Ave., in Cheyenne. Contracting officers from six different federal agencies will be on hand to discuss their processes to purchase products and services from small businesses.

The SBDC is a partnership among the University of Wyoming, the Wyoming Business Council and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The SBDC focuses on educating small-business owners and potential owners on how to successfully start and operate small businesses. The SBDC’s main office is located at UW.

At this event, small-business owners will have the opportunity to meet one on one with representatives from six federal agencies and obtain tips about how their business can best market to the federal government. Small businesses also will learn about the free assistance available from the Wyoming Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) to help Wyoming businesses obtain government contracts; and about the U.S. SBA’s contracting and business development programs.

Invited agencies include the Bureau of Land Management, F.E. Warren Air Force Base, General Services Administration, the U.S. Forest Service, Western Area Power Administration and SBA.

“This is a good opportunity for Wyoming small businesses to meet one on one with the folks who actually do the purchasing for the federal government in this region,” says Cindy Unger, business adviser for the Wyoming Entrepreneur SBDC.

There is no charge to attend but, to ensure a seat, register at http://www.ptassist.com/services/ptac_web_register.php?id=3CC2C48756. For more information, call Brett Housholder at (307) 234-3203 or email him at brett.housholder@uwyo.edu.

Reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities will be made if requested at least two weeks in advance. For more information, call the PTAC at (307) 234-3203.

The Wyoming SBDC Network is a business advising group of the Wyoming SBDC, Procurement Technical Assistance Center, Market Research Center and Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR)/Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Initiative. The network’s mission is to help Wyoming entrepreneurs succeed. Advising and most market research activities are free of charge to Wyoming residents.

The SBDC is funded, in part, through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. SBA. Additional support is provided by the Wyoming Business Council and UW.
