UW Elementary Education Program Ranked No. 5 in Nation

The University of Wyoming elementary education program ranks No. 5 among 781 colleges nationwide, according to a study by a teacher-focused website.

Teacher.org, a website for teachers by teachers, lists UW as a “Best College for Elementary Education.” The top 20 colleges received the designation, based on the combined score of four weighted areas: percent of program graduates out of all graduates per year; graduation rate; loan default rate; and tuition affordability.

UW is the only Mountain West Conference school listed in the top 20. The only other university in the region that made the list is the University of Nebraska-Kearney (No. 4).

“UW’s elementary education program graduates over 100 elementary school teachers each year,” says Leslie Rush, associate dean of undergraduate programs in the UW College of Education. “These graduates have strong content background and are provided opportunities to work with children in K-6 classrooms early in their programs, under the mentorship of Wyoming’s amazing elementary school teachers. We’re proud of our program and our graduates.”
