UW Names New HR Director

Jeanne Durr, currently the executive director of human resources at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, will join the University of Wyoming as associate vice president for human resources Oct. 17.

“Jeanne’s excellent experience and skills will be a significant boost for the university,” UW Vice President for Administration Bill Mai says. “We are delighted to have her join us at this critical point in the university’s history.”

Durr graduated from Portland State University in 1981 with a bachelor’s degree in political science. She earned a juris doctorate, with a certificate in environmental and natural resource law, from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Ore., in 1984.

Durr started her career in higher education when she became the director of student legal services at Colorado State University (CSU) in 1986. During her tenure, Durr also taught graduate classes in human resource management and completed all but a dissertation toward a Ph.D. in education and human resource studies in the College of Health and Human Sciences at CSU.

In 1997, Durr moved away from law to pursue a full-time career in human resource management. She served as human resources director at Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, Colo., and the University of Wisconsin-Platteville before moving to the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in 2013.

“I am very excited to be joining the University of Wyoming. I look forward to working closely with all segments of the university community to support and enhance the lives of our employees,” Durr says. “My family and I also are eager to become part of the Laramie community.”
