University of Wyoming President Laurie Nichols and other UW leaders will visit 10 communities across the state beginning Wednesday, Nov. 30, to solicit statewide input on a strategic plan to guide the university for the next five years.

All Wyoming citizens are invited to participate in the strategic planning listening sessions with the president in Cody, Jackson, Torrington, Rock Springs, Riverton, Casper, Cheyenne, Laramie, Sheridan and Gillette.

“These sessions are for us to hear from the people of Wyoming about their land-grant university,” Nichols says. “Creating a strong five-year plan is so important as it sets priorities and indicates areas of focus. I want to be there personally to listen to people’s hopes and dreams for Wyoming’s university, as well as the obstacles to achieving those dreams and ideas on how those challenges can be overcome.”

Here is the schedule:

Jackson -- Wednesday, Nov. 30, 12:15-1:45 p.m., Teton County Agriculture Building, Upper Level Conference Room, 255 W. Deloney Ave.

Sheridan -- Thursday, Dec. 8, 12:15-1:45 p.m., UW Watt Building, Room 131-132, Sheridan College campus, 3401 Coffeen Ave.

The statewide listening sessions are in addition to an extensive series of discussions on campus focused on developing a roadmap for UW for the next five years. With that input, UW’s Strategic Planning Leadership Council is scheduled to begin drafting the strategic plan in January, with presentation of a draft to the campus community and stakeholders in March. The revised plan then will be presented at a town-hall meeting for consideration by the governing bodies of Faculty Senate, Staff Senate and the Associated Students of UW.

Following approval by the Board of Trustees, the plan will be implemented at the start of the 2017-18 fiscal year, with college and unit plans finalized in fall 2017. A website, www.uwyo.edu/president/strategic-plans/, has been established to inform the public throughout the strategic planning process.
