Wyoming State High School Football Championship Results

The University of Wyoming is playing host to the Wyoming State High School Football Championships Friday and Saturday, Nov. 11-12. For more information about the Wyoming High School Athletic Association, go to http://www.whsaa.org/.


 

Sheridan Repeats in Class 4A Football

November 12, 2016 -- Sheridan used a dominating fourth quarter to steamroll past Natrona County 56-28 Saturday night to win its second straight Class 4A championship. It was the school's 25th all time title.

The second-ranked Broncs scored four times in the final frame at War Memorial Stadium to close out a one-loss season in 12 games. It was the highest-combined scoring 4A championship game in history.

The Mustangs were a surprise 4A finalist with a season-ending mark of 6-6.

Pine Bluffs Wins First 1A 11-Man Championship

November 12, 2016 -- Pine Bluffs scored its only touchdown in the fourth quarter and it was enough as the Hornets won its first-ever football championship, toppling Tongue River 10-7 in the 1A 11-man title game Saturday at War Memorial Stadium.

Pine Bluffs, which had three state runner-up finishes, avenged an earlier loss this season to the Eagles to close out the year at 9-2. Tongue River, seeking its first championship in 42 years, closed out at 8-3.

Big Horn Surges to 2A State Championship

Nov. 12, 2016 -- Big Horn converted two straight interceptions in the fourth quarter, including a pick-six, to break open a deadlocked game to defeat Greybull 28-20 Saturday afternoon to capture the Class 2A state championship at War Memorial Stadium.

The Rams won the school’s fifth state football title, its first since 2013 to finish the season at 10-1. The Buffaloes scored a late touchdown to make the score close, closing the year at 9-2. Greybull was seeking the school’s first state title in 56 years.

Star Valley Captures Second Straight 3A Title

Nov. 11, 2016 – Star Valley broke open a tight game at halftime and shut down Powell’s offense in the second half to defeat the Panthers 28-10 at War Memorial Stadium late Friday afternoon. It was the Braves’ second straight 3A state title.

The top-ranked Braves finished the season 11-1, with its only loss a 22-14 defeat earlier this season to the Panthers. Star Valley has now won nine state football championships.

Kaycee Repeats as Class 1A 6-Man Champions


Nov. 11, 2016 – Kaycee repeated as state 1A 6-man champions Friday afternoon at War Memorial Stadium, defeating Farson-Eden 41-30. Both teams entered the title game unbeaten in 10 regular season games.

The victory was the 20th consecutive victory for the Buckaroos, currently the longest winning streak in any Wyoming classification. The Pronghorns were seeking their first-ever state title in football.
