Bluegrass singer and musician Sierra Hull will perform with special guests The Railsplitters Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 8 p.m. in the lower level of the University of Wyoming Union. The event is free and open to the public.
Hull appeared on stage at the Grand Ole Opry at age 11. She signed with Rounder Records two years later, and she has two acclaimed albums. Hull is the first bluegrass musician to receive a Presidential Scholarship at the Berklee College of Music.
Recently, Hull released her Grammy-nominated album, “Weighted Mind.” The album features Hull’s sensitive original songs, heartfelt vocals and new style on the mandolin.
The Railsplitters will accompany Hull. A bluegrass band from Boulder, Colo., the group uses new influences to unleash tradition. “The Faster It Goes,” the band’s most recent album, contains pop-influenced numbers, but also pays tribute to the group’s musical mountain roots.
