University of Wyoming Calendar for Feb. 27

These are among the activities scheduled Feb. 27-March 5 at the University of Wyoming:

Monday, Feb. 27-Friday, March 3 -- Body Image Awareness Week at UW. Events are free and open to the public.

Monday, Feb. 27, 5:30-7 p.m. -- The UW Art Museum will host a gallery walk-through, featuring student award winners from the 42nd annual Juried UW Student Exhibition. Free.

Tuesday, Feb. 28, 6:30 p.m. -- Cowgirl basketball vs. CSU, Arena-Auditorium. Ticket prices vary.

Tuesday, Feb. 28, 7 p.m. -- Planetarium show, “This Month’s Sky: Love in the Solar System.” Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in the Physical Sciences Building, Room 204.

Wednesday, March 1, noon-12:30 p.m. -- The UW Art Museum will host “Lunchtime Conversations with Curators.” Free.

Wednesday, March 1, 5:30 p.m. -- “Dirt! The Movie” will screen in the Berry Biodiversity Conservation Center. A panel discussion with soil experts from across the state will follow. Free.

Wednesday, March 1, 7:30 p.m. -- The UW Department of Music presents guest pianist Cristina Capparelli in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts recital hall. Free.

Thursday, March 2, 5:10 p.m. -- The UW Gender and Women’s Studies Program presents Bambi Haggins, an associate professor of film and media studies at Arizona State University. Her talk, “Funny Women & Intersectional Feminism: Making Laughter Empowering,” will take place in the Classroom Building, Room 118. Free.

Thursday, March 2, 7:30 p.m. -- The UW Department of Music presents the Dorothy Jacoby Competition in the Performing Arts concert hall. Tickets cost $10 for the public; $7 for senior citizens; and $6 for students. Tickets are available at the Performing Arts box office and the Wyoming Union information desk, by calling (307) 766-6666, or going online at www.uwyo.edu/finearts.

Friday, March 3, 2 p.m. -- Cowgirl tennis vs. Idaho, UW Indoor Tennis Complex. Free.

Friday, March 3, 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. -- UW African American and Diaspora Studies and the 7220 Entertainment Films Committee will present “Moonlight” in the Wyoming Union Family Room. A panel discussion will follow the 6 p.m. showing. Free. 

Friday, March 3, 6:30 p.m. -- The world premiere of “The Bearded Lady Project: Challenging the Face of Science,” a documentary film, will screen in the Classroom Building, Room 133. A question-and-answer session with cast and crew members will follow. Free.

Friday, March 3, 7:30 p.m. -- An opening reception for “The Bearded Lady Project” portrait exhibition will be in the UW Geological Museum. Free.

Friday, March 3, 7:30 p.m. -- UW Cultural Programs presents Danú, a traditional Irish ensemble, in the Performing Arts concert hall. Tickets cost $23 for the public; $19 for senior citizens, UW faculty and staff; and $10 for students. Tickets are available at the Performing Arts box office and the Wyoming Union information desk, by calling (307) 766-6666, or going online at www.uwyo.edu/finearts.

Saturday, March 4, 9 a.m. -- Cowgirl tennis vs. Hastings, UW Indoor Tennis Complex. Free.

Saturday, March 4, 10 a.m. -- The UW Art Museum will host Family Saturday Workshop for families and individuals of all ages. Free.

Saturday, March 4, 11 a.m. -- Planetarium show, “Spaceships!” Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in the Physical Sciences Building, Room 204.

Saturday, March 4, 2 p.m. -- Cowboy basketball vs. San Jose State, Arena-Auditorium. Ticket prices vary.

Saturday, March 4, 6 p.m. -- The Latter-day Saint Student Association will host the Brown and Gold Banquet and Ball in the Wyoming Union Ballroom. The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required. Tickets can be picked up at the Wyoming Union information desk.

Sunday, March 5, 2 p.m. -- “Dirt! The Movie” will screen in the Berry Center. Free.
