University of Wyoming Calendar for Feb. 6

These are among the activities scheduled Feb. 6-12 at the University of Wyoming:

Monday, Feb. 6, 3:10 p.m. -- The Department of Geology and Geophysics Distinguished Lecturer Series presents Fabian Nippgen, UW assistant professor of ecosystem science and management. His talk, “Watershed Hydrology in Natural and Designed Environments,” will take place in the S.H. Knight Geology Building, Room 216. Free.

Tuesday, Feb. 7, 7 p.m. -- Planetarium show, “The Dark Matter Mystery: Exploring a Cosmic Secret.”  Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in the Physical Sciences Building, Room 204.

Wednesday, Feb. 8, 7 p.m. -- Cowboy basketball vs. Fresno State, Arena-Auditorium. Ticket prices vary.

Wednesday, Feb. 8, 8 p.m. -- Bluegrass artist Sierra Hull will perform with special guests The Railsplitters in the lower level of the Wyoming Union. Free.

Thursday, Feb. 9, 7 p.m. -- Studio WYO presents folk rock bands Edison and The Woodpile in the Wyoming Union Gardens. Free.

Thursday, Feb. 9, 7 p.m. -- The UW Department of Art and Art History presents artist talks by visiting artists Kristin Stransky and Jenny Filipetti in the UW Visual Arts Building. A reception will follow. Free.

Thursday, Feb. 9, 7:30 p.m. -- The UW Department of Music presents “The Music of Libby Larsen” in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts concert hall. Larsen is an Eminent Composer-in-Residence and Grammy winner. Tickets cost $10 for the public; $7 for senior citizens; and $6 for students.

Friday, Feb. 10, 6 p.m. -- The UW Art Museum will host its spring opening reception to celebrate new exhibitions. The 42nd annual Juried UW Student Exhibition and the UW Art Department Faculty Exhibition will be featured. The student award ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. Free.

Friday, Feb. 10, 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. -- The 7220 Entertainment Films Committee will present “The Edge of Seventeen” in the Wyoming Union Family Room. Free. 

Friday, Feb. 10, 8 p.m. -- Planetarium show, “Dark Matter, Dark Energy and the Fate of Our Universe.” A STAR Observatory tour (weather dependent) follows at 9 p.m. Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in the Physical Sciences Building, Room 204.

Saturday, Feb. 11, 11 a.m. -- Planetarium show, “Introduction to Constellations.” Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in the Physical Sciences Building, Room 204.

Saturday, Feb. 11, 2 p.m. -- Cowgirl basketball vs. Utah State, Arena-Auditorium. Ticket prices vary.

Sunday, Feb. 12, 2 p.m. -- Cowboy wrestling vs. North Dakota State, UniWyo Sports Complex. Ticket prices vary.
