A reception celebrating the life of Gustavo Sbatella, the University of Wyoming assistant professor of plant sciences who was killed in a motorcycle accident in Nevada last week, is scheduled at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11, in the Animal Sciences/Molecular Biology Building foyer on the UW campus.
The Animal Sciences/Molecular Biology Building is located northwest of the UW American Heritage Center on the corner of 19th Street and East Armory Road.
The reception follows a service for Sbatella at 11 a.m. Friday at the Montgomery-Stryker Funeral Home, 2133 Rainbow Ave., in Laramie. Viewing begins at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Sbatella, 52, was based at the Powell Research and Extension Center. He was the extension irrigated crop and weed specialist, and conducted research in the Big Horn Basin.
A native of Argentina, Sbatella received his master’s degree in 2004 and Ph.D. in 2006 in agronomy, both at UW. He joined the UW faculty in 2014.
