University of Wyoming Calendar for Sept. 4

These are among the activities scheduled Sept. 4-10 at the University of Wyoming:

Monday, Sept. 4 -- Most UW administrative offices will be closed, and classes will be dismissed for Labor Day.

Tuesday, Sept. 5, 12:20 p.m. -- Jacob Layer, a doctoral student in the UW Division of Kinesiology and Health, will present “Biomechanical Considerations in Strength Assessments.” Sreejayan Nair, a professor in the UW School of Pharmacy, will present “From Bench to Bedside -- Discovery and Development of a New Generation Chromium Complex.” The talks, part of the Division of Kinesiology and Health’s Intellectual Community Seminar Series, will take place in the Corbett Building, Room 137. Free.

Tuesday, Sept. 5, 7 p.m. -- Planetarium show, “This Month’s Sky.” Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in the Physical Sciences Building, Room 204.

Wednesday, Sept. 6, noon-12:30 p.m. -- The UW Art Museum will host “Lunchtime Conversations with Curators,” an informal gallery walk-through with museum curators and special guests. Free.

Wednesday, Sept. 6, 4 p.m. -- The UW Police Department (UWPD) will hold its annual found property auction at the UWPD parking lot, 1426 E. Flint St. Viewing for items to be sold will start at 3 p.m.

Thursday, Sept. 7, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. -- The Wellness Center will host an open house. The center is located in the southwest corner of the Half Acre Recreation and Wellness Center. Free.

Thursday, Sept. 7, 8 p.m. -- UW’s Biodiversity Institute and the Laramie Audubon Society will present an outdoor screening of “The Messenger,” a documentary about the imperiled songbird. Refreshments will be provided starting at 7:30 p.m., followed by the screening on the south hillside of the Williams Conservatory. Free.

Thursday, Sept. 7, 8 p.m. -- Kristian Nairn, known for his role as Hodor in “Game of Thrones,” will perform his music in the Wyoming Union Gardens. UW’s 7220 Entertainment and Studio WYO will host the free concert.

Friday, Sept. 8, 8 p.m. -- John Mulaney, a comedian, actor, writer and producer, will perform in the College of Arts and Sciences auditorium. Tickets cost $40 for the public and $20 for students with valid UW student IDs. Tickets are available at the Wyoming Union information desk and the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts box office or by visiting www.uwyo.edu/finearts.

Friday, Sept. 8, 8 p.m. -- Planetarium show, “Back to the Moon for Good.” A free STAR Observatory tour (weather dependent) follows at 9 p.m. Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in the Physical Sciences Building, Room 204.

Saturday, Sept. 9, 10 a.m.-noon -- The UW Art Museum will host Family Saturday Workshop. Free.

Saturday, Sept. 9, 10 a.m. -- “YIM Maline: Decomposition, 2016” will open at the UW Art Museum. Free.

Saturday, Sept. 9, 2 p.m. -- Cowboy football vs. Gardner-Webb University. Ticket prices vary.

Sunday, Sept. 10, 1 p.m. -- Cowgirl soccer vs. University of Northern Colorado, Louis S. Madrid Sports Complex. Ticket prices vary.
