An administrator who has been instrumental in driving enrollment increases at West Texas A&M University has been selected to fill the new position of associate vice provost for enrollment management at the University of Wyoming.

The UW Board of Trustees today (Wednesday) approved the appointment of Kyle Moore, who will begin his new duties Aug. 23 and report directly to Provost Kate Miller.

Moore has been the director of admissions at West Texas A&M since 2012, helping grow that institution’s enrollment from under 8,000 students to about 10,000 during that period. He has served in an admissions role since 2006 at West Texas A&M, from which he received both a bachelor’s degree in biological and wildlife science, and a master’s degree in plant and environmental science.

At UW, Moore will oversee the enrollment management function of UW, including Admissions, the Registrar, and Scholarships and Financial Aid. He will establish the new enrollment management enterprise and provide leadership for the university to recruit, enroll and support an academically strong and diverse student body in alignment with UW’s goals for enrollment.

Moore is charged with providing leadership and coordination in building a holistic and integrated strategic enrollment management function that is consistent with the goals, mission and resources of the university.

Mary Aguayo, who has served as UW’s interim AVP for enrollment management since the position was created in March, has been appointed as the director of transfer relations and the new Transfer Success Center.

Aguayo received a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in public administration from UW, and previously served as the primary enrollment and policy strategist for UW. In her role, Aguayo will spearhead transfer processes and policies at UW, including hiring and leading a team that will provide enrollment support to assist transfer students in transition; coordinating and expanding relationships with Wyoming community colleges; facilitating transfer credit policies and their development, including ensuring continued 2-plus-2 articulation planning and intentional policy support; and developing and maintaining transfer advising agreements.

In addition, Mark Lyford has been appointed as executive director of the Ellbogen Center for Teaching and Learning at UW. Lyford received a bachelor’s degree in biology from St. Olaf College and a master’s degree in rangeland ecology and watershed management and a Ph.D. in botany, both from UW. He had been the director of the general biology program at UW since 2003 and, most recently, served as special assistant to the AVP of undergraduate education, and was in charge of university curriculum and program assessment.

Lyford also will oversee the Office of Distance Education Support, which will provide instructional design and delivery support for online courses at UW. He will continue to be the head of assessment activities.
