University of Wyoming fall semester classes will begin Wednesday, Aug. 30. UW business and administrative offices will observe regular hours (8 a.m.-5 p.m.) beginning Monday, Aug. 28.

Students will be able to move into UW residence halls starting at 7 a.m. Monday, Aug. 28. Due to construction on Grand Avenue, students and their families may need to take alternate routes to arrive at the residence halls, UW officials say. Those traveling west on Grand Avenue should turn north on 15th Street to check in at the “Move-In” main entrance. Those traveling from other directions should turn east on Ivinson Avenue from Third Street and proceed east on Ivinson Avenue to the residence halls.

Students and their parents are invited to a Cowboy Parents drop-in reception from 1-3 p.m. Aug. 28 in the Fireplace Lounge in the Washakie Dining Center. A “Welcome to UW” dinner is planned from 4-7 p.m. in the Washakie Center, followed by UW President Laurie Nichols’ welcome to the class of 2021 in the College of Arts and Sciences auditorium.

Events planned during the first day of classes include the Recognized Student Organization Club and Organization Fair, sponsored by the Campus Activities Center, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Prexy’s Pasture. The President’s Welcome Back Picnic will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Prexy’s Pasture. The evening will include free food, live music and outdoor games.

Additionally, Cowboy Connect, a new student transition program, will offer many activities during the first week of classes. To view a schedule of activities, visit www.uwyo.edu/cowboyconnect.
