The grand marshals for Homecoming 2017 are Charles “Chuck” and Katherine “Katie” (Kugland) Brown. Chuck (B.A. '62) and Katie (B.A. '61) met while attending UW. She was Homecoming queen in 1959 and a member of Pi Beta Phi. He was a member of Sigma Chi. They married in 1961, then moved to Wheatland, which has been their home for more than 50 years. This is where they also raised their two daughters, Brenda and Kristi, both of whom are UW alumni.

In 1968, the Browns went into business for themselves and, over the span of the next 50 years, the C.H. Brown Co. has grown into a nationwide heavy equipment finance company.

In 2005, Chuck was appointed to the UW Board of Trustees and has served as its president. He is a former president and board member of the UW Alumni Association, received the College of Business Distinguished Alumni Award in 2008, and received the UW Distinguished Alumni Award in 2011. Chuck also has served as a member of the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission, Wyoming Transportation Commission and the Denver Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank. Katie has been a member of the UW Libraries Development Board and is active with numerous other civic organizations.

Chuck and Katie are longtime members of the Cowboy Joe Club and have held Cowboy football season tickets for 50 years; they have attended over 500 games at home and on the road.

Those interested in participating in the parade must fill out an application and return it to the Alumni Office at the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center by Friday, Oct. 20, at 4 p.m. Applications are available at www.uwyo.edu/homecoming.

The football game Saturday, Oct. 28, is against New Mexico, with the time yet to be determined. The Pepsi Pregame Zone (in the Indoor Practice Facility northeast of the stadium) opens three hours before kickoff.
