Ken Brenneman, of Riverton, and Dan Foreman, from Olathe, Colo., are the first graduates of the University of Wyoming’s international management dual degree Master of Business Administration (MBA) program.

Brenneman and Foreman spent two years in UW’s International MBA Program, offered in conjunction with Pforzheim University in Pforzheim, Germany. One year of studies was completed in Laramie while the second year of courses, including writing a company thesis, was completed in Germany. The pair received two MBA degrees, one from UW and the second from Pforzheim University, with a focus in international management.

Brenneman received his bachelor’s degree in psychology, with a minor in criminal justice from UW before beginning his master’s degree studies. While in Germany, he worked for and completed his thesis with Credit Suisse and, before he graduated, Brenneman was offered a position with Goldman Sachs.

“The most beneficial gain from the program was the ability to interact and network with professionals from all over the world, including presenting and completing many projects that affected businesses’ bottom lines and strategic movements,” he says. “The experience allowed me to gain intricate knowledge of the financial markets, including working with top-tier investors Philip Treick and Patrick Fleming, as well as Sinclair Oil’s Peter Johnson and Jay Mick, to both gain a better understanding of working theory and gain exposure for my ideas.”

He adds that UW’s MBA Program “grants you a unique experience; I would highly recommend it to all MBA seekers.”

Foreman received his bachelor’s degree in management from UW before completing his dual international MBA degree. He was hired upon completion of his thesis as the digital product manager for Mann+Hummel.

“The highlight of the International MBA Program was the diversity that you experience. By nature, the program forces you to work in international teams,” he says. “This experience has better prepared me for the cultural diversity that is becoming more prevalent as the world’s workforce is globalized. Currently, I am working with teams in eight countries around the world and will soon be adding more.”

Steve Farkas, UW College of Business assistant dean and MBA Program director, says Pforzheim University colleagues were impressed with Brenneman’s and Foreman’s performances and are looking forward to having additional MBA students from UW participate in the dual degree program.

“I am very proud of Dan and Ken and their accomplishments. They have been great ambassadors for UW and its MBA Program,” Farkas says. “Ken was the first Goldman Sachs placement for Pforzheim University.”
