UW-Casper Changes End-of-Year Celebration

The University of Wyoming at Casper will host a “Celebration of Excellence” this spring, featuring graduating seniors as guests of honor.

This is a change from the traditional commencement ceremony to a more intimate celebration of student accomplishments.

The event will take place Thursday, May 10, at 4 p.m. at the Nicolaysen Art Museum.

“We aim to include scholarship and award recipients in the celebration, while featuring our graduates,” says UW-Casper Dean Jeff Edgens.

The graduation recognition will begin with a student and faculty keynote speaker. Then, a faculty member from each graduate’s program will call the student to the stage, noting his or her achievements.

“Our graduates will receive their diplomas and a memento from UW administration on the stage, and we will have professional photographers there to capture it all,” Edgens says.
