SBDC Webinar Series to Help Wyoming Contractors with Surety Bonding

Wyoming contractors and small-business owners will have an opportunity to learn about surety bonds and how to use the U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Surety Bond Guarantee Program.

A Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) business webinar, titled “Are You Wondering Where You’re Going to Get Bonding for Your Next Job?,” is scheduled online Tuesday, April 10, from 11 a.m.-noon.

The SBDC is a partnership among the University of Wyoming, the Wyoming Business Council and the SBA. The SBDC focuses on educating small-business owners and potential owners on how to successfully start and operate small businesses. The SBDC’s main office is located at UW.

Kevin Valdes, underwriting marketing specialist for the SBA, will discuss contract bonds, and why they are required. Webinar attendees will learn details about the SBA Surety Bond Guarantee Program, including eligibility requirements; the process to become pre-qualified; and how to apply.

Companies that have had no prior bond work or have been in business for less than three years; organizations that need to increase their bonding capacity; or those with limited financial resources can all benefit from this SBA program.

“With the -- hopefully -- upcoming arrival of spring, contractors, especially, may need bonding assistance,” says Cindy Beth Unger, business adviser for the Wyoming SBDC. “This free webinar will explain the SBA’s Surety Bond Guarantee Program.”

This webinar is free, but attendees must register at www.wyomingsbdc.org to obtain the link. This program will be recorded and available to registered attendees who are unable to attend.

SBDC Network programs and services are available to the public on a nondiscriminatory basis.  Reasonable accommodations will be made for persons with disabilities, if requested at least two weeks in advance. For clients with limited English proficiency, language assistance services are available.

For more information, call Andrea Lewis, procurement specialist for the SBDC Procurement Technical Assistance (PTAC) program at (307) 772-7372 or email amlewis@uwyo.edu.

The Wyoming SBDC Network is a business-advising group of the Wyoming SBDC, PTAC, Market Research Center and SBIR/STTR Initiative. The network’s mission is to help Wyoming entrepreneurs succeed. Advising and most market research activities are free of charge to Wyoming residents.

The SBDC is funded, in part, through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. SBA. Additional support is provided by the Wyoming Business Council and UW.
