University of Wyoming Calendar for March 26

These are among the activities scheduled March 26-April 1 at the University of Wyoming:

Monday, March 26, 3-8 p.m. -- The Wyoming Goes Global Conference will highlight international research performed by UW students and faculty members with funding from UW’s Center for Global Studies. The conference will include a roundtable discussion on international careers, a panel on American foreign policy, as well as student and faculty presentations. The conference will be in the Wyoming Union Center Ballroom. Free.

Monday, March 26, 3:10 p.m. -- The UW Department of Geology and Geophysics Distinguished Lecturer Series presents Cin-Ty Lee, a professor at Rice University. He will discuss “Unconformities, Continental Emergence and the Cambrian Explosion.” The talk will be in the S.H. Knight Geology Building, Room 216. A reception will follow in the UW Geological Museum. Free.

Monday, March 26, 4 p.m. -- Judge M. Margaret McKeown, of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, will give a talk as part of the American Heritage Center’s George A. Rentschler Distinguished Visiting Lecture Series. The UW alumna will discuss “Do Trees Still Have Standing? The Environmental Legacy of Justice William O. Douglas and the Wyoming Muries” in the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center. Free.

Tuesday, March 27, 6 p.m. -- The UW College of Law will host the fourth annual Spence Law Firm Historic Trial in the College of Law Large Moot Court Room. This year’s mock trial will feature a Lewis and Clark Expedition incident. Free.

Tuesday, March 27, 7 p.m. -- UW Planetarium full-dome movie, “From Earth to the Universe.” Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in the Physical Sciences Building, Room 204, or by going online at www.uwyo.edu/physics/ and clicking on “Planetarium Schedule.”

Wednesday, March 28, noon -- Wyoming author C.J. Box will discuss his newest book, “The Disappeared,” followed by a book signing at UW’s American Heritage Center. Free.

Wednesday, March 28-Saturday, March 31, 7:30 p.m. -- The UW Department of Theatre and Dance presents “The Tender Land,” an opera by Aaron Copland, on the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts main stage. Tickets cost $16 for the public; $13 for faculty, staff and senior citizens; and $8 for students. Thursday, March 29, noon -- The UW College of Law will host best-selling author David Grann. He will discuss his latest book, “Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI,” followed by a Q&A session and book signing. The event will take place in the UW College of Law Building, Room 178. Free.

Thursday, March 29, 3 p.m. -- UW librarian and author David Kruger will read from his book, “J.C. Penney: The Man, the Store, and American Agriculture.” The reading will be in the McMurry Reading Room, located in UW’s Coe Library. Space is limited. To RSVP, email rlatimer@uwyo.edu. Free.

Thursday, March 29, 6 p.m. -- A reception for “Art in the Museum: Inspired by Life,” an art exhibition inspired by work in natural history collections, will take place in the Berry Biodiversity Conservation Center. The UW Museum of Vertebrates and the UW Biodiversity Institute sponsor the event. Free.

Thursday, March 29, 7 p.m. -- StudioWYO presents open mic night with host Shawn Hess in The Gardens, located in the lower level of the Wyoming Union. Sign-ups begin at 6:30 p.m. Free.

Friday, March 30, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. -- The UW Veterans Services Center will host the annual “She Served … Picture Project” event in the Wyoming Union West Ballroom. The event highlights the service of women in the military. Free.

Friday, March 30, 2 p.m. -- Cowgirl tennis vs. Boise State University, UW Tennis Complex. Free.

Friday, March 30, 4:10 p.m. -- The UW Department of Anthropology Spring Seminar Series presents Danielle Jensen-Ryan, a postdoctoral researcher in the department. She will discuss “The Environmental Science-Policy Interface: A Multi-scalar Comparative Study” in the Anthropology Building, Room 150. Free.

Friday, March 30, 8 p.m. -- UW Planetarium show, “The Power of Zero.” Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement.
