Campus Construction Update for April 8

These are among the construction activities scheduled April 8-14 at the University of Wyoming:

Colder Weather Advisory (UW Operations) -- UW Operations asks building occupants to assist with ensuring buildings and facilities are safe and secure. Make sure all windows and doors are completely closed with windows latched at the end of each day, and report any doors or windows that you are unable to close and secure to the Service Desk (766-6225).

Snow Removal (UW Operations) -- Crews will remove snow as needed throughout the season. Watch for snow-removal equipment; be careful and safe during snow events. Call the Service Desk (766-6225) to report icy spots and problem areas.

Wyoming State Veterinary Laboratory Isolation Building (Big Horn Roofing, Laramie; June 2018) -- The contractor will begin mobilization the week of April 9 for replacement of the roof over the entire building, weather permitting. Please use caution near this area, and be aware of equipment and materials adjacent to the project site.

Ross Hall (UW Operations, Structural Trades) -- Construction will begin to remodel the east wing of the second floor. The area will be blocked off the week of April 16 for abatement operations. Please be cautious near the crews, and observe all posted closure notifications.

Engineering Building (UW Operations, May 2018) -- The computer lab in Engineering in rooms 6028/6021A will be closed for expansion and remodeling. Please be cautious around crews and equipment in this area, and observe all construction signs.

Old Main (UW Operations, May 2018) -- Renovations will be ongoing in Room 113 through the week of May 14. Please be aware of painting operations and work crews in the building.

Willett Pit Pumping Station/Willett Drive (UW Operations) -- Concrete placement is complete for the sidewalk at the Willett Pit Pumping Station. Barricades will be in place through the weekend. The walk will open and resume normal traffic April 9. Please be cautious near the barricades and new concrete.

Wyoming Union Third Floor, Veterans Services Center (Shepard Construction; summer 2018) -- Demolition and reconstruction will continue on the third floor through July. The south end of the west wing will be impacted primarily by the noise for the next few weeks. Exterior project staging is on the southwest side of the Wyoming Union. Please be cautious around crews and equipment in this area, and observe all construction signs.

Knight Hall (UW Operations, June 2018) -- The southwest entrance portico will continue to be closed intermittently for partial ceiling replacement. Insulation will be added to prevent pipes from freezing. Please observe barricades, and use caution near the construction area.

Physical Sciences Building (Arcon Inc., Laramie) -- Wall framing and mechanical and electrical rough-ins are nearing completion in rooms 338, 340 and 341. Expect mechanical and electrical work on the second and fourth floors in adjacent corridors, labs and mechanical rooms to support the project.

Engineering Education and Research Building (EERB) (Construction manager GE Johnson Construction Wyoming LLC, Casper; spring 2019) -- Installation of the stone veneer; exterior and interior metal stud framing, and drywall; mechanical/electrical/plumbing rough-ins; and roofing are all underway. Eleventh Street will be closed to traffic in both directions for the duration of the project. Please steer clear of heavy equipment or delivery trucks parked on city streets, and observe all construction signs.

Agriculture and Engineering Buildings (Summit Sealants, Montrose, Colo.; July 2018) -- Painting, caulking and minor repairs to the exteriors of Agriculture and Engineering will be ongoing through the spring, as weather permits.

Central Energy Plant (CEP) (Arcon Inc., Laramie; May 2018) -- Construction fence is set up around the work area for replacement of the condensate tank at CEP. The sidewalk on the west side of 19th Street may be closed, and 19th Street will be blocked occasionally. Please be cautious of crews and equipment in the area.

Merica Hall (UW Operations, Paint Shop) -- The UW Paint Shop has begun to paint the hallways and restrooms at Merica Hall. Please be cautious in these areas.

Downey Hall (UW Structural Trades; June 2018) -- Initial phases of east-side soffit modifications and insulation addition, and access to add heat to the west-side soffit are underway, weather permitting. A new insulated door will be added in the east stairwell. Please use caution around work activities, and observe signs around the construction area.

Mick and Susie McMurry High Altitude Performance Center (Construction manager at risk GE Johnson Construction Wyoming LLC, Jackson; June 2018) -- Within the existing facility, metal stud framing, drywall, mechanical, electrical and plumbing rough-ins are underway. All access to and egress from the Rochelle Athletics Center will be limited to the west weight room doors across from the Fieldhouse North. Traffic control, signs and barricades will be in place at the building interior and exterior during this process. Please use caution when near the project, and observe all construction signs.

Beta House, North Exterior (UW Operations) -- Work is ongoing for replacement of the loading dock and stairs. Flatwork is complete, and handrail fabrication and painting remain. The loading dock and door will remain closed through project completion. Please be cautious around crews and equipment in this area, and observe all construction signs.

Health Sciences (Laramie Heating and Sheet Metal, Laramie; May 2018) -- The contractor will replace two dampers and actuators in the corridor the week of April 23. Work to install access doors is complete. There will be some noise and dust. Please observe caution around crews.

The following project is complete:

Education Annex (Gem City Roofing, Plumbing Co., Laramie; March 2018) -- Modifications to the west-side Literacy Center canopy roof are complete.
