Local musicians J Shogren Shanghai’d Duo will open the 2018 Summer Concert Series Wednesday, June 6, at the University of Wyoming.

The series features a different band each Wednesday -- except July 4 -- through Wednesday, July 25. Performances will be from 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. on Simpson Plaza. Each Wednesday, from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m., UW Residence Life and Dining Services will provide burgers -- including a veggie option -- grilled chicken, salads, drinks and sides for purchase. The Summer Concert Series is free and open to the public.

The Campus Activities Center’s (CAC) 7220 Entertainment sponsors the concert series.

The series kicks off with a performance by J Shogren Shanghai’d Duo. Categorized as “catawampus American music,” J Shogren actually is UW’s Jason Shogren, the Stroock Professor of Natural Resource Conservation and Management, who performs with a “lived-in rasp of a voice, acoustic guitars, a mandolin and a batch of his own songs and some well-traveled numbers by cohorts from another time.”

Shogren, who has released numerous albums over the last decade, has played throughout the Rocky Mountain region, in Europe and at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis.

For more information, visit Shogren’s website at www.jshogren.com.

The remaining Summer Concert Series lineup is:
