Local indie folk band The Woodpile will perform Wednesday, June 13, as part of the Summer Concert Series at the University of Wyoming. The Summer Concert Series is free and open to the public.

The Laramie-based band will perform from 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. on Simpson Plaza. UW Residence Life and Dining Services will provide burgers -- including a veggie option -- grilled chicken, salads, drinks and sides for purchase from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

The Woodpile was formed in Laramie in early 2016 by Caleb Childress, Evan Gwin, Nolan Leibee and Brendan Ruwart. The four met through UW’s Department of Music and began working together after lead vocalist Gwin released his solo EP “The Woodpile” in December 2015.

The band has a sound driven by folk-influenced storytelling, energetic electric guitar licks and a tight rock 'n’ roll rhythm section. The Woodpile’s debut EP is titled “Hunting Hearts.”

For more information, visit the band’s website at www.thewoodpilemusic.bandcamp.com.

The Campus Activities Center’s (CAC) 7220 Entertainment sponsors the concert series.

Individuals needing assistance to attend events should call the Wyoming Union information desk at (307) 766-3160.
