The University of Wyoming’s Summer Concert Series continues with a performance by Whippoorwill Wednesday, June 27. The event is free and open to the public.

The Fort Collins, Colo., folk band will perform from 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. on Simpson Plaza. UW Residence Life and Dining Services will provide burgers -- including a veggie option -- grilled chicken, salads, drinks and sides for purchase from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

Band members are Tobias Bank on drums; Staci Foster on guitar, harmonica and banjo; and former UW Cowgirls basketball player Alysia Kraft on electric guitar. Kraft, from Encampment, also is the lead singer of Americana/rock band The Patti Fiasco.

Whippoorwill’s 2016 debut album, “Good to Be Around,” earned the band regional nominations for Wyoming Public Radio’s and the Colorado Playlist’s Best Albums of the Year. The three musicians have been working on a full-length album. Their new single, “I Got Drunk,” was released in May.

“Masterful at containing the true dynamic nature of emotions. At once, sad and joyful, yearning and fulfilled. Which element stands out strongest depends on your mood. This is beautiful, masterfully crafted, skillfully performed music,” according to the music website Hey Reverb.
