Everything you have ever secretly thought about dating, romance, marriage, lovers, husbands, wives and in-laws, but were afraid to admit, plays out center stage in the Snowy Range Summer Theatre’s finale.

“I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change,” presented by the University of Wyoming Department of Theatre and Dance, runs July 10-14 nightly at 7:30 p.m. in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts Thrust Theatre. Sean Stone, assistant lecturer in the department, directs the play.

Tickets cost $10 for the public and $7 for seniors, students and children over age 5. Discounts are available for groups of 10 or more people. For tickets and information, call (307) 766-6666, visit the Performing Arts box office or the Wyoming Union information desk, or go online at www.uwyo.edu/finearts.

Lovingly dubbed "Seinfeld set to music,” from a Star-Ledger review, the tuneful and witty musical sketch comedy, with book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro and music by Jimmy Roberts, first appeared off-Broadway in 1996, playing for more than a decade. The production eventually became the second-longest-running off-Broadway musical.

The musical was nominated for the Outer Critics Circle Award as Outstanding Off-Broadway Musical in 1997, and it continues to be performed all over the world in multiple languages.

Set to a pop score, “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” celebrates love, from dating, waiting to love and marriage, and on through the agonies and triumphs of in-laws and newborns, trips in the family car, and pick-up techniques from the geriatric set.

According to a review, the comedy pays tribute to those who have loved and lost, to those who have fallen on their faces at the portal of romance, and to those who have dared to ask, “Say, what are you doing Saturday night?”

“I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” contains language and themes that some may find objectionable.
