Campus Construction Update for Aug. 12

These are among the construction activities scheduled Aug. 12-18 at the University of Wyoming:

Campus Steam Shutdown (UW Operations) -- The annual campus steam shutdown began Monday, July 16, and will continue through Aug. 20. Most campus buildings between 22nd and Ninth streets, and Ivinson and Lewis streets will not have hot water or steam during the shutdown. A portable boiler located north of Washakie Dining Hall will remain on-site until Aug. 20.

Old Main (UW Operations; August 2018) -- Remodeling of Suite 318 of Old Main is underway. Remaining task items include painting, carpeting, moving and cleaning. The work will continue until Aug. 29. The contractor has established a HEPA-equipped negative pressure enclosure at the entrance of the suite in an effort to mitigate dust and odor dispersion to other locations of Old Main during construction. There will be heavy foot traffic along the main stairwell from ground level to the third floor. A Conex (storage container) for furniture storage will be staged at the northeast corner of the building, near the dumpsters for the facility. Please use caution near crews and equipment.

Arena-Auditorium (The Plumbing Co. and Big Huhnks, August 2018) -- The northeast sidewalk area will be closed for concrete repair.

Wyoming Hall, McWhinnie, Education and Education Annex Parking Lots (Simon Contractors, August 2018) -- Simon Construction will have the parking lots closed Aug. 9-22 for crack sealing, asphalt coating and restriping.

Half Acre Recreation and Wellness Center (UW Operations) -- The west-facing entrance (from Prexy's Pasture) will have major renovations and door replacement the week of Aug. 13. The entrance will be closed for demolition, and gym users are encouraged to use the south entrance until work is completed. Loud noise is possible in the area as construction takes place. Please be cautious of crews and equipment in the area.

Arena-Auditorium (Arcon; August 2018) -- Concrete will be repaired on the west side. Please use caution around crews and equipment.

Animal Science/Molecular Biology (Simon Construction; August 2018) -- The parking lot will be closed until Aug. 24 for repairs. Please use caution around equipment and crews.

Lot 909 -- Old Pike Lot on Sorority Row (Knife River; August 2018) -- New sidewalks and landscaping will be installed. Please use caution around equipment and working crews.

The following projects are complete:

Anthropology Building (Simon Contractors, August 2018) -- Parking lot crack sealing, asphalt coating and restriping are complete.

Physical Sciences Building (UW Operations) -- Installation of the new control valves for the heat system is complete.

Half Acre Recreation and Wellness Center Pool and Spa (UW Operations) -- Repairs to the mechanical room and in the pool area are complete.

Central Energy Plant (CEP) (The Plumbing Co., July-August 2018) -- Welding crews have completed piping work on 19th Street by the CEP.
