New Cadets Join UW ROTC Cowboy Battalion

The University of Wyoming ROTC Cowboy Battalion is welcoming 45 new cadets to its ranks this fall.

“ROTC is a military program designed to develop leaders and commission second lieutenants into our Army,” says Lt. Col. Thomas Haas, who also is a professor of military science at UW.

Students in the ROTC program complete a rigorous academic and physical training program designed to develop them into leaders of character. Upon successful completion of the program, cadets receive their commissions.

Members also are given the opportunity to participate in summer training, internships and international travel throughout the summer semester. For many new UW students, ROTC provides tuition assistance through several types of scholarships.
