UW Faculty Recital Series Features Kaori Uno

The University of Wyoming Department of Music’s Faculty Recital Series will feature Kaori Uno-Jack with guest pianist Naoko Suga Sunday, Sept. 30, at 5 p.m. in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts recital hall. The performance is free and open to the public.

The recital, titled “Songs,” will feature music from Vivaldi’s “Bassoon Concerto in E minor,” Dutilleux’s “Saraband et Cortège,” Ravel’s “Pièce en forme de Habanera” and two Japanese songs.

Uno-Jack is a bassoon lecturer in the UW Department of Music and is from Boulder, Colo. She has performed nationally and internationally as both soloist and chamber musician, earning many awards. Uno-Jack is a member of the award-winning woodwind quintet Antero Winds, based in the Colorado Front Range area. The quintet plays recitals and outreach concerts across the Western states. She also is a member of the Colorado Ballet and Boulder Chamber Orchestra.

Uno-Jack has been the bassoon instructor and associate dean of student affairs at Rocky Ridge Music Center in Estes Park, Colo., since 2009. She also is a faculty member at the Rocky Mountain Center for Musical Arts in Lafayette, Colo.

Suga owns her own music studio in Los Angeles. She received her master’s degree in collaborative piano from the University of Colorado-Boulder.
